  1. Oop, someone in the other thread was wondering how Wireless would respond, and I guess that is indeed a response

Ngl, it’s always very satisfying when companies try the “all publicity is good publicity”, outrage marketing approach, and it blows up in their face

Why cancel? Just have someone who isn’t a wanker be the headline act.

Makes sense tbh, this was their big draw, downgrading to someone like Dave or Stormzy after getting Kanye would make a lot of people upset especially after Drake headlined last year

Shame it’s Wireless really, UNPLUGGED would have been a great headline.

Do stupid things, win stupid prizes. Honestly what were those stakeholders thinking by not assessing anything wrong with Kanye.

Having Kanye headline all 3 nights was a wild gamble

Wow this seems like awful organisation on their part. Same headliner for 3 nights is weird for a festival, but putting all your eggs in the Kanye basket given everything people know about him just seems silly.

Think this was a needless PR misstep from the government, they didn’t need to get involved and now they’re an already unpopular party that just banned fun in summer

I remember a time when acting like a Nazi would result in you getting your fucking head kicked in. Sad how times change

  10. How the he’ll can the British government have the absolute cheeck to not give Kanye a visa when they let in every Tom dick an Harry illegaly. This timeliness has to be a joke.

Whoever arranged this facade has got a lot to answer for to anyone else (those who bought tickets, other stakeholders etc) This was planned so poorly and with a level of ignorance that I be amazed that no one is let go in response to this.

Wireless is going to need a very strong line up for its next event, with this “bad publicity is good publicity” potentially crippling its chances in the near future.

Do think if Ye was truly repentant he’d realise the time was not right to visit and withdraw

He should jump on a migrant boat to get in. Easy peasy.

Seems a bit dramatic to cancel the entire thing because he cant come. Find another headliner? With him dropped, you could probably get the sponsors back.

Unless they went and tried to book Chris Brown or some stupid shit

What I don’t get is why bring over American anti-semites when we have our home grown ones we could have headlining? Should have put Wiley on as the main event.

Having had their headline act denied entry and their major sponsors pull out they had little choice. Even if his visa was not denied with the major sponsors gone finding replacements who were prepared to be associated with the festival was going to be tough.

All those wanting to see Mariah the Scientist and Skaiwater are going to be pretty pissed off now.

Looking forward to our participation in Eurovision and legitimising a country whose pm is a wanted war criminal. That’s fine apparently. Why not just let the people decide if they wanna go, why does the government even have to get involved. None of his recent shows have caused any trouble or incited hatred, ppl just want to hear the songs they’ve listened to for the last 20 years

The festival organisers did try trot out the usual weasel words

“During his interview with Today, Benn also said Jewish communities had decided against meeting West: “We have reached out and they’ve refused to meet him.”

However, a Board of Deputies spokesperson told the BBC: “Neither the Board of Deputies nor, we understand, the Jewish Leadership Council has refused any request to meet with the Wireless festival organisers.

“When the Board of Deputies received a letter from Melvin Benn on 6 April, proposing to meet, in response to a letter we sent setting out our concerns, we responded positively. In any event we are clear that the invitation to Kanye West to perform should be rescinded.”

If you ask anyone who lives around Wireless venues, it is a festival that is not missed.
