      It’s most likely a license requirement to get x amount of hours in the dark.. better than crashing because they had actually just pretended it was dark during training

      This is the brand new Garda surveillance aircraft, De Havilland Canada DHC6.

      I presume they’re surveying some criminal activity, or doing some night time training for this.

      This aircraft replaces a Britten-Norman Islander which was recently retired from the same role.

      These aircraft are designed for very long endurance in the air.

      Surveillance to catch some of the lads sneaking in through the swinging arms.

      It looks like it’s just doing circuits. Very common night training

      It could be wind direction had them using a different runway and traffic pattern
