What is the price in your European cities today? Here in Vancouver it’s 2.16 a liter for regular. $2.78 for diesel.

The demands which protester requires to keep fuel price check doesn’t work. They’ve been tried and failed spectularly, people sure have very short memory already forgetting Russia- Ukraine war’s impact on fuel prices.
Outcome was companies simply pocketed the profits.

Ireland is one of the european countries that kept the biggest reliance on fossil fuels for its economic and domestic activities.
In a sense, what you see here is the result of all the work continental has done over the past 15 years to wean itself off oil: whereas the situation remains really fragile on the continent but manageable, in Ireland the pain threshold already has been reached.
Without solar in Spain, Germany, Nuclear in France and all the others, all Europe would be convulsing in the same way as we speak.

I love Dublin, but a quick look at the news would explain what’s going on and why no Government will have control over fuel prices at the moment.
