Three years after the attack, Germany still has no answer to the question of who blew up the Nord Stream pipelines. Two investigative journalists believe they have found the answer—and it is politically explosive.
It was one of the most spectacular acts of sabotage ever, and it remains unsolved to this day. On the night of September 26–27, 2022, the Nord Stream pipelines exploded in the Baltic Sea. Three of the four pipes were destroyed. Russia blamed the West. The West blamed Russia. Journalist Seymour Hersh, a former Pulitzer Prize winner, claimed that the U.S. had given the order. Sweden and Denmark investigated for years and then quietly dropped the cases. Germany is still investigating.
What has been publicly known so far may be only part of the truth. At least that is what a new book suggests, one that is already politically explosive: “The Blast – The Nord Stream Attack, the Hunt for the Perpetrators, and Germany’s Betrayal of Ukraine.” For the first time, authors Oliver Schröm and Ulrich Thiele name specific perpetrators, describe the course of the attack, and reveal how the German government under Olaf Scholz is alleged to have politically exploited the findings to protect its own arms supply policy.
For their book “Die Sprengung” (The Blast), the two authors traveled to Kyiv, spoke with key figures behind the attack, and analyzed several thousand pages of documents, emails, and intelligence reports. What they uncovered is more than just a crime thriller about divers and explosives. It is also a story about the abuse of power in Berlin.

I suppose one of the lessons for the EU is that any pipelines and power cables are target number one in an enemy attack. Given the size of these structures, defending them is difficult.

Everyone with a brain knew CIA told Ukraine to do that. The American President literally said publilcy multiple times “I will not allow the Nord Stream Pipeline to be used, they have to buy gas from us”. And then the pipeline got destroyed and Germany was forced to buy expensive Gas from America. Everything got expensive and thousands of Businesses closed in Germany and some moved to other countries for cheaper costs.

It’s was high probability that it was the Americans Ukrainians doing it.
But anyway Europeans here were quite nonchalant about it commenting that they still go gas from Russia even when they fought against the soviets.
It’s quite incredible in double thinking capability though, support Ukraine but also finance Russia.
