Why bother writing an article with a closed question as a headline if you don’t even explicitly say ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

Reform have been u turning constantly.

How they were able to convince people Starmer is the one who does this, given he has kept more manifesto promises than any PM in like a decade, is beyond me.

Does it matter at this point? People who have decided to vote Reform have already rationalised the increases by blaming the previous council for leaving it in a bad state. Ever since Cameron held up that letter in parliament and told the country that Labour left the country with no money it’s become the go-to tactic.

Yes, several times, and they will again

The few policies they have had, they have changed, abandoned, or simply denied they ever said

The only policies they’re ever going to implement is the ones where they slash worker’s rights and destroy public services so we are either in thrall to their paymasters or have to fuck off and die

I don’t understand how does a fact finding site states that Reform candidates who won and are now running the councils did promise to cut council tax but does not state whether Reform has broken it’s promise

The article shows evidence of Reform candidates promising council tax cut, their leaflets stating so, their social media tweeting the same, without any pushback form Farage or national leadership and yet cannot answer the simple question

Their promise was overly simplistic and a poor attempt to mirror Musk’s DOGE from the US. Anyone who pays the smallest amount of attention to local politics knows the issue with council budgets is caused by their statutory care duties that cannot be cut, not Pride flags or diversity officers. Saying they would never cut council tax sounds great for a headline and will win votes from the uninformed, however it was never going to be a promise they could live up to.

Can anybody name a time they kept a promise that had a positive effect?

Yes. They did you can’t trust Reform to help anyone but themselves!

Well known liar says something is the case, turns out something is not the case everyone is shocked.

Of course, yes. With positive inflation, you can’t freeze taxes for a long time if the central government mandates you to do some expenses.

It would be strange to expect something else.

After the reality check, they even accept and remember the experience or decline the reality and repeat the same mistake in the future.

When everything they say is bullshit, can we really say they made promises
