As ex-Army I can say that this is a massive fuckup and his troop chain of command are totally incompetent. There’s no way someone can not parade for two weeks and them have no clue unless their management is in the toilet. I bet they were all marking time outside the COs office the morning this broke. I’m staggered as to how bad they must be; a nominal roll should be taken every day!
There’s an article a few posts down on here titled “UK preparing new plan to ready nation for war”. Imagine the chain of command of this guy’s troop if we were on a war footing! They can’t even administrate their personnel in barracks! Two weeks someone can be AWOL and they don’t have a clue.

If a soldier doesn’t turn up for duty then the first thing that happens is someone braying the door down to their quarters or billet, I know because that’s exactly what happened to me when I was young and stupid.
I assume if they are not there then the MP actually have something to do that day.
There are some gaps in the story, if he was off camp was he en route to a course or maybe he was on leave for 2 weeks.
Either way someone has dropped the ball, hope he turns up fit and well and the worse case will be a trip to Colchester
