They need to get serious about the grants for installations. €1800 of a grant is a pittance when you want a system with a decent battery. If they offered a huge grant they could get a much better adopt rate. They should also be taking a good look around the world and take advantage of the solar panel innovations that are happening in other countries. Simple ideas such as putting solar panel grids over outdoor carparks and on factory roofs could pay dividends if done right. Even with the maintenance costs involved.

Wind and solar could save us billions every year in terms of money leaving the country. Last year Ireland spent €6.7 billion on importing fossil fuels.

Literally every new building should by law have a minimum solar output per square metres. Starting at 3000w for up to 100 square metres.

Nuclear and wind with solar and gas. These together can remove dependence on coal and petrol. I dont see gas been removed at all without Nuclear. The uk are building a Nuclear plant to power 6 million homes. Job done

Not just solar but wind power. Ireland has so much potential for wind power that it could export electricity. And as others have said, every building with a flat roof should have solar panels on top of it. And new residential builds.

Should be a requirement for rental properties or some incentives for landlords to install it for tenants.

It would be good to cover car parks and larger buildings in panels like they do in a lot of parts of the world too.

Let wind farms install solar. They have the wires and a lot the inverter tech. So it’s a quick way to add a Gw to the grid.
It’s much easier to put panels in an entire field than it is to go on loads of roofs.
