And why in Spanish?
I never understood the point of these bans. For pipeline gas sure there was and is a point: it creates a dependency giving Russians possibility of political manipulations (“don’t help Ukraine, or else…” and there will always be a local politician scaring people into complying). This is why pipeline gas is almost completely phased out by now and will be entirely phased out by this year’s end.
But what is the point of banning entirely fungible imports? Russians will just export them elsewhere and we will instead import from other places… world market is very fast to adapt and flexible, and there is no way to get everyone to sanction Russia especially since China is the biggest importer of every kind of raw material so whatever we try only gives them an edge.
I think these measures are empty posturing and virtue-signaling that doesn’t do anything ether for Ukraine or for our security.
Create better conditions for deftech startups in Europe, it will take very little money and a bit of regulatory changes. That will get things moving to a lot greater degree – nearly everyone with brains left Russia by now and by creating conditions for talented people to work on deftech we can achieve a lot in a way they won’t be able to replicate simply for lack of talent.
