RE90 guida Norimberga Centrale – Stoccarda Centrale. Sono molto curioso Perché le porte RE90 sono così grandi? Perché sono diventati grandi…? A Norimberga e Stoccarda Centrale ho controllato che altri treni abbiano porte normali oltre al RE90. Sono così confuso, qualcuno può spiegarmelo nei commenti?

Looks like the normal RE door to me
Maybe the doors are bigger for the build in wheelchair- lift?
I assume the designers thought was that bigger doors make boarding with big items like strollers, bikes or luggage easier.
*Why does RE90 have big doors?
Many (newer) trains have one or two (or more) pairs of extra wide doors for wheelchairs, bicycles etc. Maybe this just happens to be a line where a modern generation of trains has been deployed.
I am not sure if this is the correct answer, but this is what i can think of:
It probably has something to do with people capacity. For bigger and heavier doors you need more powerful motors to move them, which are pricier.

Bigger doors on trains are mostly the result of planners anticipating high rider fluctuations, i.e. they expect a lot of people to board and aloft at stations on the given route. Bigger doors help to improve passenger flow therefore reducing the time passengers need to get on and off the train, shortening the time that the train has to stand at a station. You can also find REs with larger doors on a lot of Metronom lines.
There are different requirements set for different lines. The operator (there are several different operators for local trains) will purchase (or rent or lease) a train that will fit to the requirements.
The requirements are set by the authority during a tender. The responsible authority for this train is the state of Baden Württemberg.

Others have explained the reasons but FYI it’s a different train model. There’s similar variants of the Stadler Flirt 3, this one is the XL variant with bigger doors and longer cars. The normal variant is very similar visually but not the same.
