*In other words, the UK accepting EU rules without being able to shape those rules as part of the bloc would be wrong.*
Well Nigel we did have a say and in many cases a veto but we had Brexit and as I recall you were pretty active in that matter.
In the end if we want to reduce trade barriers to food and drink we need to have a reasonable level of alignment with the EU, it make sense to me to sort it out sooner rather than later.

Good, we need to have it and point out the problems with Brexit.

There have been leaks for a while now that Starmer plans to fight the next election on the EU, recent events like this seem to prove theres some truth in that.

Starmer has always been pro-EU. The Labour Party (except for the Corbynites) has bee pro-EU for decades. In 2024 Starmer did not think the electorate was ready to vote to re-join but the madness of King Donald has turned the tide. The sooner we are back in the fold the better.

Brexit absolutely poisoned UK politics for almost a decade. As much as I think closer EU ties would be good, it won’t be good for the political discourse. And nowadays, it’ll end up lumped in with culture war shit too.

Opening the door for a Reform government.

You mean the division that Nigel Farage and his rich mates caused? They campaigned for Brexit.
• 62% of Brits think Brexit has been more of a failure. Only 13% say it’s been a success
• 66% support closer UK-EU ties
• 53% support rejoining the EU, compared to 35% opposed
• 50% support joining the customs union (18% opposed)
• 49% support joining the single market (22% opposed).
Can we please stop appeasing a minority (who are now falling down the fascist rabbit hole), and start focusing on the majority?

Data shows that Brexit was stupid idea and net negative in all aspects including migration.
Despite what the media is trying to convince you of, Labour is doing a lot of good that is not reported. I just hope they wont lose the parliament majority as each party, even golden boys greens are self serving opportunists.

He will get what he wants. If 10 years ago with Brexit we had stayed. Then you would never have heard about it again.

If labour make this a pledge I will be voting for them and please no referendum without a compulsory intelligence test for voters
