This is about trust, not pride. But this can also reflect that we are proud for the wrong reasons. Cultures of law operate differently than the cultures of honor. A trust is backed by law in the former cultures. And as far as honor is concerned, we live in an age where honor is losing its backup mechanisms. There will be a slower transition towards more of a law society, eventually, unless religion takes over. We can go for hours discussing this…
