What stands out most in this case is a highly unstable patient in known delirium was placed in a general ward with highly vulnerable patients clearly without adequate observation
Regardless of the responsibility of this man for this poor farmer’s death I just really hope lessons were learned from this

What’s really apparent in these kind of cases.. is how unsafe hospitals are when you’re at your most vulnerable. It’s also tragic that this hospital is known as a dumping ground for elderly patients, usually nursing home patients and drug/alcohol patients are dumped into the Mercy. Plus a lot of psychiatric patients too. It’s horrific working there.

Of course they had to include that he used cannabis.
No doubt he had a few drinks in the weeks leading up to the incident too, why isn’t that mentioned?
it goes without saying that my sympathies are with the victim and their family

My Deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased gentleman but I also have some sympathy for the person convicted as he was clearly in a serious mental health crisis and was failed in that regard as was the poor unfortunate victim
Mental health is a very serious illness and so is drug addiction
