I wonder what percentage of Europeans would be for and against the UK rejoining.

10 years of chaos and only 5% of people changes their mind on rejoining EU? That is wild ngl

Half of UK didn’t even vote to leave in the first place.

Title does seems a little misleading, just 53% support rejoining, which when 48% voted to remain in the referendum feels a little low.

While in contrast the study shows 61% of people support the governments current EU policy, which seems like the bigger story here.

Haha, of course. After 10 years of self inflicted chaos, over half of Brits now want to rejoin the eu xD The same geniuses who voted Leave are now crying “we didn’t mean like this ”. Peak British brain.

We see such article on a semi regular basis, but a lot of people (no necessarly britons) dont really know what the EU does and does do for them. And here, I (and many others) suspect that when asked “do you want to rejoin?”, the british will think of rejoining with the same or similar treaty and condition as they had in their first time in the EU. They forgot that the UK brokered a bunch of extra stuff for itself back then in 1972. And the EU has since moved away from such “personalised/tailored” deal, and has set up a very robust and stringent list of things that all country who join must fullfill, sooner or later.
One big example of this is the introduction of the Euro to replace the national money. Some country are dragging their feet (Poland, czechia, sweden for ex) but technically they have to adopt the Euro at some point.
I doubt that the britons, who got duped by a “brussel controls everything” campaign before, would be so open to see Brussels … “controlling” everything, again.

A survey asking a question along the line of “Would you want to rejoin if it meant having to adopt the Euro at some point?” would show the true overall sentiment on the matter imo.

The question needs to be asked it the Europeans want UK to rejoin. And I think not…lol

  14. OkKnowledge2064 on

until its not atleast 60% for rejoining nothing will happen

  15. JungsLeftNut on

Do they support joining as an equal member or they want to be a member with innumerable privileges they had before?

  16. RedFox3001 on

Never going to happen. The terms for rejoining would be too unfavourable. Better off out

  17. DarthMauly on

Like are these people in favour of rejoining under identical terms as before, or under the terms that would likely be offered if the UK tried to rejoin say next year.

Isn’t this kinda the exact same issue as Brexit in the first place where you can’t really know what you’re voting for?

Feels like before any vote is held it should be very clear what the terms are to avoid a repeat of the whole “This isn’t what we voted for” nonsense.

    Stay where you are please.

    Piss off.

Where’s the bold Boris Johnson lately?

unless it’s 2/3s, don’t even bother wil another referendum.

i would argue that EU ascension should have a national referendum as one of the requisites, with 2/3s majority be necessary to continue.

it’s unsustainable if every 4-5 years a country keeps changing it’s mind about the EU everytime the government changes to a new PM from another party.
