I suspect quite a large percentage of the protestors think the climate is a load of nonsense
The protesters that were not in trucks or tractors, wanted to overthrow the government
And they marched back up to the north to protest immediately after
Also you’d need a refinery on top of this, IF there was actually oil found.
Just seems like we have better alternatives in wind and solar and like I said we need to get off fossil fuels. We all know this, so why even attemp it.
People aren’t as smart as you assume

Many protests are “funded” by vested interests. Someone has to compensate the protesters for the time they are taking off.

Forward thinking requires thinking, above all else. It also requires not being motivated by foreign powers trying to either justify their wars, or undermine stability in modern societies.
Guarantee you the only people pushing for drilling are moguls and useful idiots.

You’re looking at this far too one dimensionally. If you’re working for a loss and you have bills to pay, you’re not exactly going to give a fuck about anything else. You’re in survival mode.
This isn’t like being an office worker that gets public transportation to work and is so insolated from the effects of this. That line of thinking is so naive and ignoring a fundamental aspect of our economy that is required for us to eat, to sustain our energy sector, our water and bare basic necessities.
Ask yourself, because many in this sub really cannot put themselves in anyone else’s shoes, would you give the slightest fuck if you had that pressure and financial insecurity through this shock? No. You wouldn’t. That’s where they’re at.
And for those offended by this, you just don’t see how things could escalate and there’s no point in discussing anything with you because you’re not self aware enough to even do so.
