Why would the EU want to mimic the US on financial policy? What exactly would it mean to “catch up” with the backsliding US economy?

No, no it doesn’t. End the financialization of our economies.

  3. Judging by how the stock market is operating right now in the US, and how little relation it bears with the actual economy, I’m not sure anybody needs to replicate it anywhere, let alone in Europe.

The stock market has become a poorly regulated, glorified casino in which speculation and insider trading are its bread and butter. We can’t allow the economy to be affected by the whims of a handful of mega rich people and reckless investors gambling away in fantasy land until everything collapses.

Not happening until EU federalizes. Imagine handling all 27 member-state regulations.

Most stock markets are owned by eurostock…but policy wise…..politicians will be in the way and demanding it be in their country…

Look at the banks,..their yelling for more amalgamation more mergers in the bank sector. And when banks do it. The government blocks it.

They need more than that to catch up to the US. but that would be a start

EU members don’t even have the common foreign policy. This has to be the starting point.
