When he was out canvassing, it must have disgusted him having to shake the hands of rural Ireland for a vote.

Has really shown himself up for the toffee-nosed west brit he is

What did he say that wasn’t factual? Rural Ireland exists only because of the subsidies paid to it by the cities.

Honestly just makes the point that rural Ireland whinge about woke urban people but demonstrate the thinnest of skins themselves. Happy to give it, very unhappy to receive the slightest critique. It was clear what Varadkar said – rural folk (and I am one) are happy to dismiss the contribution of urban areas and genuinely believe they are contributing most in this country when in fact the opposite is true.

These comments weren’t too bad but in general he’s a slimy obnoxious prick, has he got a book or something coming out or is he just craving a bit of attention because he seems to be everywhere with quotes the past few weeks.

I was on a flight with him before, the miserable fucker got into business class and left his boyfriend in economy.

Pretty much confirmed my opinion of him.

Unpopular former politician shares unpopular view.

Other than driving rage bait clicks, there is no reason to give Leo’s opinions airtime.

“The right of that child to a mother and father is much more important than the right of two men to have a family or two women to have a family”

“Welfare cheats cheat us all” (photo at IFSC, next to notoriously corrupt finance companies)

“One mans rent is another mans income”

“We never said we could fix this overnight, the construction industry was destroyed and there is no quick fix.”

“Fuckin’ lazy good-for-nuttin’ farmers” – “I’m sorry, I’ve finally gone too far this time.”

Yes, I’m sure this is a _genuine_ expression of remorse and apology from Leo, after an entire political career of such statements…

It is only _now_, after so many decades, that it must finally have dawned on him:

“Hey, maybe being a cunt all the time is why people don’t like me? Why did nobody ever tell me…”

His mistake was conflating small farmers with all of rural Ireland. I know plenty of rural dwellers on good money. But tiny farms are not viable and are being propped up on life support with grants and tax breaks.

These comments weren’t even as bad as his ‘the government is not there to help you’ comments he made while he was in government.

*The exploited urbanites have for too long suffered under the tyrannical boot of subsidised rural Ireland. Urba-tariat, rise up against the vampiric rur-geoisie. You have nothing to lose but your chains!*

What was it he said? Can’t seem to see it in the article

A Tory says something shitty and then backtracks.

Must be a day ending in y

He made a point for the first time in his life and immediately backs down. Typical.

Varadkar is a cunt and his comments are tone deaf, he is also largely responsible for the current state of Ireland.
