La Turchia occupante contesta lo status della zona cuscinetto, sta adottando misure per impadronirsi del territorio all’interno di quell’area e sta anche sollevando la questione di un accordo separato tra l’entità separatista e l’UNFICYP. La forza trainante di questo sforzo è il ministro degli Esteri turco Hakan Fidan, che sta gestendo la questione di Cipro sia a livello strategico che tattico. È chiaro che Ankara sta tentando di creare nuovi fatti sul terreno impiegando pratiche “collaudate”.

The buffer zone is part of the ROC. It was granted to the United Nations peacekeeping forces in order to move around easier. Lets see how Christodoulidis and the EU handle it.
A banana track would fit well to the banana republic TRNC although I also understand that the elite of the ROC would like to keep it to themselves.
