Ararat is literally on the cover of the passport … no need to ragebait

      > The Prime Minister commented on the absence of Ararat in the passport, which has a red tint, as follows: “Khor Virap is depicted from the Ararat region as one of the most important centers of our Christianity. We have chosen such a perspective for our policies and what we have been talking about for a long time, so that the frame reflects, especially since it is the passport of the Republic of Armenia, the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia is expressed.”

So on the front of the passport they still include Ararat within the coat of arms but bail on this?

      > Mount Aragats with its four peaks, Armavir region with the process of baking lavash, Lake Sevan, the pagan temple of Garni, the Jermuk waterfall and other symbols are also presented. The Prime Minister emphasized that through all these historical and cultural monuments, an attempt was made to ensure “the diversity and multi-layeredness of Armenia’s portrait.”

    3. oh come on!

Can we get rage on things that are objectively important? Like the damn air quality in Yerevan or the water scarcity across the country.

No, we’re gonna lose our crap over stuff that literally
      means nothing tangible.

I really don’t understand why they chose to show Khor Virap from this angle. In every picture or painting I’ve seen, the church is always shown with Mount Ararat in the background, and it’s obvious why—because it’s fantastically beautiful. If they didn’t want to include Ararat, why put Khor Virap on there at all? If the idea was just to feature a monastery, Haghpat or Sanahin (which are UNESCO sites) would have been a much better choice. Don’t get me wrong, I love Khor Virap just like all Armenian monasteries, but I can only picture it with Ararat.

This the passport of the Republic of Armenia. Landmarks and surrounding area should be showing and highlighting the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Why should space be wasted to show a territory (even in distance) not part of the Republic of Armenia?

      This is kindergarten stuff.

    6. i am fucking amazed by how people see the decision to make the cover red as Pashinyan’s goal to “turkify” Armenia.

      People lost their shit.

What is next, banning the word Ararat and any poetry that includes that word? Change the brandy name? There is no other symbolism that signifies our national identity more than Ararat.

I saw some people complaining that Artsakh is not in the passport.

When was it ever on the passport 🤡

Depicting Ararat on the passport is not a turkophobic move so why not do it? Depicting Khor Virap with Ararat was always the way just because it’s beautiful. I know why it was not on the page. Because this is a simple and not-serious example that shows how the government is willing to do yet another free handover of principles by which Armenia gains nothing in the negotiations. I’m not a supporter of Karapetyan or Russia anyway so just hear me out.

Why does every step of Pashinyan towards peace never receive any cooperation from Turkey and Azerbaijan? Can somebody explain? Why do they erase our churches 6 YEARS AFTER the war if their goal is peace? Why does Turkey mock Armenian genocide and post about turks being killed right on the day when Armenians mourn the loss of their loved ones? Why does Azerbaijan not establish peace by giving back Armenia its occupied territories but Armenia DOES give that territory in the Gegharkuniq? Out of all the border Armenia has with Azerbaijan Armenia chooses to demarcate the part where only Armenia has to give up the territory? Why? Why do Azerbaijani goods get exported to Armenia but none get imported by Azerbaijan? What if Azerbaijan does not want to establish peace at all? Every step of the way proves that it’s the case. What if in the end of all these ‘peace processes’ we will just hit the wall of their requirement to change constitution? Their constitution states that today’s Azerbaijan is the descendent of the first republic of Azerbaijan. Will they ever change that? It even sounds funny to think so. That will never happen let’s be real. There is no force in the world that will make Azerbaijan to sign peace and change their constitution. And they don’t have to because Aliyev is a blood-thirsty dictator that will invade Armenia anyway. He has to keep the conflict alive to survive as a political figure. It’s a stalemate situation where Armenia shouldn’t be handing over it’s negotiation points for free because it has so few. And this ‘harmless’ example just shows the incompetence of those in power.

I mean it’s kind of pathetic to put a landmark that’s not actually in the country on our passport cover. Rage all we want but that’s the reality and in that reality, it makes sense.

Erdogan’s heart wants what Erdogan’s heart wants.. **🙃** but as someone also noted, there’s a tiny depiction of Ararat as part of the coat of arms on the front page, so **technically** it’s in there.

    12. IntroductionSmall881 on

Why complaining about some mountain that’s not even in your land?

    13. occupiedkoala on

You know what? Maybe they are right! Maybe we should criminalize using Ararat as a symbol in Armenia – it’s disrespectful to our neighbors. Also we should change our alphabet because it was invented in what is today Turkey. Also how dare we be Christian – we adopted Christianity in what is Turkey today! Also applies to most of our food, literature, dances, poetry, paintings, sculpture. We should give it all away so we finally can live in peace, on our knees, waiting for the inevitable sword of our masterful owners.

I think it would’ve been better not to include the image of the monastery at all than to use a new angle just to avoid showing Mount Ararat. Are they deliberately trying to provoke people?
