You see, many complain about the costs… so it must be true, even for expat snowflakes :))

Quick lunch in austria or germany: go to lidl, get a snack from the bake goods for 1-2€, or just eat brötchen for 0.20 a piece if on a budget. Maybe take a coke with it for 0.80€ if you want a cold drink too.
Switzerland: whatever you do, you won’t be under CHF10. More like 15-20.

I think a bigger issue than wages is actually the rising unemployment, especially the increasing long-term unemployment many are experiencing. Although the real wages have declined in most sectors in recent years, IF you have a job, you should be okay.

You make less than 5k a month here post tax, you re basically a bum. Increase salaries or give help to low earners, only way imo.

Using the median to represent average wage is not a good idea, especially if you want to make a point about people not being able to afford rising costs. Mode wage is most likely a lot lower than 6,788CHF.

I’ve earned over 20,000 CHF monthly in different roles over the years and I can say that sure it is easy to be “comfortable” but for a lot of people getting ahead is definitely becoming more tricky. For me I am comfortable but I also realise that I am in my thirties so younger generations have it more tricky. I’ve risen up enough that I am not at immediate risk of outsourcing; infact I am the one doing it.
