These are the proposals I expect in election season, not the ones we have seen recently, giving subsidies here and there to appease people. The proposals should have a vision to where the country sees itself in 20 or more years and long lasting impact for the money invested.
Where are the solar panels going to be installed? Would have been great if we hadn’t built so many supermarkets and gas stations on vacant plots. Are we ready to give up on more open spaces for them? When it comes to installing these on roofs, unless we’re doing so on high rises where new developments would obscure the sun rays, bear in mind that penthouse owners might need to give permission for access.
This is the right thing to do in Malta. All public buildings should have solar panels, including schools hospitals park and rides and police stations. And then if it is not enough there are areas that are just made of rocks. No trees no animals just rocks.
Good. I’d rather have this than keep spending incessantly on subsidies
All of a sudden, eyesores are now ok.
I hope they will not be the same we had at my former place of work, which were installed (by PN) and not really connected to anything. Just a money wasting exercise.
But I agree that government buildings should all have PV . But that will barely cover the same building electricity use let alone the 30% reduction for all households.!
Why stop at rooftops, we have large industrial estates with huge parking lots that can also be covered. But dunno what’s the output, also I guess we’d need extensive battery storage?
