I am an Avgeek. Have been since I am a small kid. But still, you have to look at who financed this study. It’s Avationsuisse in this case. Is it surprising that their findings are “Swiss are proud of flying”?
It’s like Philipp Morris starting a study. Would it be surprising if their finding was: “Marlboro an essential part of Italian culture”?

Exploring other cultures and flying at 10 km height at a speed of near mach 1 is much better than the pseudo idea of “saving the climate”.
Check the statistic on aviation’s role in global CO2 emmission, when spending time in the airports bar 😉!
Let me rephrase: Swiss population proud to afford trips to distant places. Flying is a bit faster than train&car, so there. The engineers having developed flying in machines AT ALL and the people keeping them in the air, be proud. thank you.
