    1. I am really disappointed to see this. I do not mean to condemn without trial, but come on…even by reading a summary of the Vitals Inquiry one could easily see just how filthy the corrupt deeds were. There were even new revelations, just as f*cked up as the older ones. This reminds me all those knuckleheads that headed to Capitol during in Jan 2021 in support of Trump. I watched those events and worried for my country. I couldn’t imagine I would see this in Malta as well. No riots so far, but it could get bad if incitement takes place.

These people are unfortunately not the problem. They exist on both sides and are the vocal minority. The issue is their immediate peers who say ‘I don’t get involved in politics’ and vote along party lines because its what they’ve always done. Further to this, its also the whataboutists and single-party voters who contribute to this shitstorm we find ourselves in.

My source for this is that I have several family members like this who do not even entertain a discussion about the topic without either invoking Mintoff (both negatively and positively) or making the claim that things were just as bad under PN.

I’m more tolerant of the first as its generally older people so their bias is clear and founded in personal struggle, so its at least remotely justifiable. The second instantly gives away the fact you are a fucking gidra who just wants their team to win so you can get blacked out covered in red paint.

I’d say the same if the roles were reversed, I was raised PN but I’ve never given them a single vote, as it stands its a lame-duck party. This isn’t about elitism or hamallagni anymore, its a ‘are you willing to thank the people fucking you on a day to day basis’ issue

Look at the crowd. They are mostly of the older generation. They are the diehards. You’ll find these people on both sides of both parties. They are what is ruining the local electoral system. A large group of people who do not care about true facts, and cannot stop and think and judge accordingly. A group of people who idolise whoever is in power. They’re powerful, and are dangerous for the grand scheme of things. There is some hope though, it seems these are slowly dying out.

It is for this reason that it is so much more important for the no votes to go out and vote for the third parties / independents. Both parties don’t care all that much for no votes, as long as they get the majority of the actual votes. Voting for others, with the aim of getting at least one third party / independent candidate up, will give so much more of a message.

      # “Democracy is only as good as the education that surrounds it.” — Socrates

Socrates felt that democracy could only work well if individuals were educated, knowledgeable, and able to think critically. 😕
