Whilst the weather doesnt help air quality, most of the issues we have is because of the dust from the construction industry. They can belch endless dust into the air with the usual “heqq, xi trid taghmel hux” with backing from our Dear Leaders. Trees are only good for the people, but not good for profit. If they had to choose between an actual park and a block of apartments, the block will always be prioritised. Profit over People is the mantra of our pseudo socilaist government, and the PN wouldnt do any better as is clear by their electoral manifesto not mentioning anything about the environment.

Fuck the duopoly, vote a third party.

There was very poor visibility yesterday throughout the islands, probably sand from the Sahara desert, maybe it has something to do with that.

[If you scroll down](https://www.iqair.com/malta/tal-pieta/pieta) and look at the timeseries chart of AQI in pieta (*’Historic air quality near Pieta’* section) it was listed as good for Wednesday and also yesterday morning.

As a local we never had many to start with. This is due partly to the rock formation. That honey coloured stone of the bastions known as globigerina limestone. It is porous so water runs down and vegetation struggles. The North of the island is way greener because there the earth is clay. The Knights, having being used to the greenery of Rhodes, cultivated il-Buskett where they went to hunt. Overall we have little rainfall as well so while overdevelopment isnt helping this is not a fertile island. However it provided The Knights with one of the best natural harbours in the world and a hard rock foundation for fortifications . No way could the Ottoman Turks dig through that like they did in Rhodes. Rhodes is all soft clay. This in sone part explains a little
