      This how the 74 Turkish invasion was ‘justified’, this is how the invasion of Ukraine was ‘justified’, and this is how *all* invasions are ‘justified’. Plunder of land and resources is mere coincidence. *Regrettable*, even.

      FYI, many construction developers in the TRNC have Russian passports.
      So this news feels really relatable for Cyprus.

      And yes, it is just a formality, as u/amarao_san commented, and even without the law, Russia would have taken the same actions, but these formalities were put in place so the Russian bureaucracy would be aware of what’s coming.

      This changes nothing basically. The “president” had “rights” to do exactly that before. People in russian government just imitating activity and working for their money with this one

      This was done specifically because there is the ICC case to put Putin in jail so that countries would be less inclined to make it happened, threatening them with military action if it happens.
