L’Università di Gand vuole ritirarsi contemporaneamente dai cinque rimanenti progetti Horizon “problematici” con partner israeliani. Lo ha detto mercoledì la rettore Petra De Sutter al termine del consiglio di amministrazione. Un incontro che non ha potuto aver luogo venerdì scorso dopo che attivisti filo-palestinesi hanno occupato l’edificio dell’UFO. “Avvieremo subito l’uscita per tutti e cinque”, dice De Sutter, il che significa un risarcimento parziale per gli attivisti.

Symbolism, only UGent loses, while there will be no impact on Israeli aggressions against Palestinians. Belgium, unfortunately, is a very week academic partner overall. It would take a colossal international boycott for Israel consider any change. We saw the same with Russia.
But the students will feel good about themselves, that’s a positive thing. I guess.
