What started as an adventure in one of the most beautiful places on Earth turned into a nightmare that not only killed five divers, but also a rescuer trying to bring them home. You really feel for all the families waiting days for answers and recovery efforts in such terrifying conditions.

Wow their bodies got dragged pretty far then.

>It is believed that the four bodies of the Italian group were located in the same underwater cave where the military found the first body on the day of the accident.
Don’t they mean that the bodies were found in same room of the cave where the first victim was found?

Didn’t they pretty much know where they were?

Diving from a boat with a suspended license, in conditions with bad visibility, in recreational gear, at twice the depth permitted locally without special approvals, in a cave which is easy to underestimate, without guidelines, this group made a series of grossly overconfident decisions even before they got in the water. Most likely at that depth they got hyperoxia, someone panicked, kicked up a load of silt and then they lost their bearings and ran out of air. Very sad, but seriously.

Very sad outcome, and the initial rescuer also died. Makes you appreciate the Thai cave operation from a few years ago even more – where they managed to bring everyone back alive.
