You’re quite high up in the mountains, so it can get cold, possibly snow. More likely you’re going to deal with temperatures between 5 and 20 degrees and almost certainly rain in some form, which is more likely on the western side of the mountains. It’s definitely worth it to make it to the end. It gets better the more west you go. If you want a shorter route, it’s better to start at Beitostølen or Geilo than cut it at the end.
