I remember seeing one in my back garden as a kid and for years into adulthood I was convinced I saw a Hummingbird.
One came into our house yesterday and rested for a while, then went back outside 👍
There’s been a few in my mom’s countryside garden for the past few years, they’re lovely!
Don’t forget to record your sighting: https://records.biodiversityireland.ie
Is that good or bad?
Just like Scooter.
Wow I didn’t know they came here. Only place I’ve ever seen one is in Tenerife.
What is the plant its flown onto?
I think I may have seen a couple yesterday, thought they were butterflies but they were moving very fast between flowers/trees. Piqued my interest enough to get the binoculars out to see if they were hummingbirds. Will ask them for I.D. tomorrow!
Wow, I was wondering what they were. I was doing up planters on Monday and there was one at my snapdragons. I was searching what it could have been!
Saw one here last summer. They’re fascinating creatures
Had one in my garden the other day also. Sadly can’t share the video on this thread
I’ve seen hummingbird hawk moths in our garden every spring/summer for the last five or six years. It often depends on the type of flowers you have. They are super illusive though. My Dad is obsessed with photographing them.
Saw one in Derry about 2 years ago. Stunning.
