      Fairly common sense kind thing to say.

      “He advised young Muslims to “learn about this country. Learn its history. Learn some Irish phrases” because “language opens hearts. Respect opens doors”. He encouraged them to “engage with the GAA and local initiatives, volunteer, participate, build friendships”

      He seems sound. That’s exactly the kind of attitude that helps people integrate.

      To be fair as well Ireland is probably the most well like country in the Muslim world. We are well liked for our stance on Palestine. I’ve gotten a few fist bumps from many different people of the Muslim faith abroad once they hear you are Irish.

      Berties comments about second generation immigrants who are Muslims, did spark a debate and there is plenty of data amd studies that show this is a risk.

      Although the root cause is not theology, it’s marginalisation, discrimination not feeling apart of the community. Which then drives young muslim men especially online and to extremist preechers who much like the manosphere influencers know exactly what to say in order increase the subscriptions. The exact same tactics are used by extremist preachers.

      So events like this show them, that they are welcome, they are apart of the community and they are valued in that they can come to stadium owned by an organisation which is uniquely Irish and a massive part of Irish life and celebrate one of their holiest days.

      While I myslef am not religious, I recognise others are and this is a fantastic idea and long may it continue.

      I’ve been in it twice in the last week for two different corporate events.

      My objection to this would be against Islam and religion in general, not towards any Muslim people themselves.

      I think it’s ironic for a country that has finally freed itself of the dark shackles of the Catholic Church, is importing an ever more restrictive religion.

      I believe it holds no place in public society.

      I see no issue, I’ve seen people on Facebook acting like croke park is sacred grounds but I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if there was a non Muslim event there

      hopefully in the near future we move in a direction as a country away from all organised religion. it has done some good but mostly bad over the years. we could do so much better if we worked for a common good rather than for people believing what they do here will benefit them in a supposed afterlife
