We’ve never forgiven Russia for what they did. And we certainly don’t appreciate Putin’s efforts to obfuscate the truth.
It was a Malaysian airplane but a lot of the passengers were Dutch.

I’m Dutch, 34 years old right now. I flew with my family to Bali on the 16th of July. I always feel like this could’ve been me. My whole family just gone, my wife would have never met me, a whole future gone because of pointless violence. Really fuck Russia.

I remember when this happened i was on a return flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam, at around midnight the tv’s at the airport showed the news about the downed airplane.
The fact these Russians are posing with death is just unhuman behaviour. Fucking scum of the earth.

Incredible that they took pictures with toys as a loot. Or even celebrating it was an international tourist flight or killing civilians.
If you are EVER in doubt, our ex prime minister (at the time of this attack) Mark Rutte, current head of NATO, will never ever forgive Putin for this. He took this attack personally (there were a lot of Dutch people on the flight) and vowed to seek justice.
Gerkin, forgot his real name, a russian was in charge of that. Became DPR leader then when the full scale invasion began he became a commentator on telegraph. When things went bad for russia he was a loud critic of putin. Think he may of fallen out of a window. This is the best of my recollection could be wrong.

What really angers me is the court verdict.
“On 17 November 2022, following a trial in absentia in the Netherlands, two Russians and a Ukrainian separatist were found guilty of murdering all 298 people on board flight MH17. The Dutch court also ruled that Russia was in control of the separatist forces fighting in eastern Ukraine at the time.”
I mean, those found guilty (Igor Girkin, Sergey Dubinskiy, Leonid Kharchenko), were not directly involved in the shoot-down, and the entire chain of command that was responsible for it was not on trial!
Neither the Buk crew that fired the missile, not their commanders, not the Russian top generals, not Putin – no person who was directly responsible was tried (in absentia).
Girkin has **a lot** to answer for (if he gets out of Russian prison alive), but he surely did not take part in the shoot-down.

Your point stands. But there is a minor yet important detail I need to point out. MH-17 was shot down by members of the actual Russian Armed Forces, not by “separatists”.
I’ll never be capable of understanding these inhumane terrorists.
That 2nd picture made me cry. I can just imagine a little kid packing their favourite little stuffed toy in their bag, their prized possession, looking forward to their holiday. Only for an orc to pose with their toy like a trophy after killing them and their entire family along with hundreds of others.
And the worst part is that the russians are right, the West is weak. We should have responded militaraly immediately and shut their whole fake separatist shitshow down straight away. Instead we just draw red lines, send letters of condemnation and give Ukraine lip service instead of full undivided support.
This is just a reminder why Putin, Russia, and the Russian culture need to be brought to its knees, emasculated, and forever be handicapped internationally. Woefully, for the average Russian, the hundreds of years of brainwashing, conditioning, and circumventing of the professedly moral norms has taken a toll that is seemingly irreversible and must be curbed and subjugated. Russia has become a stain on societal norms and they seem to only understand the sword as a judicator, both for themselves and for others. So, we as a normal operating Western society, MUST take up the sword to bring them to their knees and bring about a requital justice for all those that have been swept under Putin’s and Russia’s horror show of existence.
