With this amendment:

* **President Tamás Sulyok is removed from office**

* **the upper age limit of 70 for Constitutional Court justices has been reinstated**, meaning that the terms of Péter Polt and three other justices over the age of 70 will expire in two months. In the future, the president of the Constitutional Court will once again be elected by the members of the Constitutional Court from among themselves, and the terms of office for constitutional judges will be nine years instead of twelve.

* In the future, judges will play a greater role in the selection and removal of the president of the National Judicial Office and the president of the Supreme Court. The National Assembly will elect the presidents of the National Judicial Office and the Supreme Court for only six years, instead of the previous nine, and the Fundamental Law will stipulate that they cannot be re-elected.

* **A twelve-year term limit would be introduced for members of the National Assembly. Anyone who has served as a member for at least three terms will be barred from running in the next election.**

* **The scope of laws requiring a two-thirds majority—that is, cardinal laws—has been reduced.**

* **They established the constitutional basis for the creation of the National Asset Recovery and Protection Office.** The president and vice presidents of the new office will be elected by a two-thirds majority of the National Assembly for a six-year term.

* The Budget Council’s veto power has been abolished.

* The National Assembly Guard has been disbanded.

* The Constitutional Court’s right to review certain budgetary and tax matters—which Fidesz had taken away from the court in 2011—has been restored.

Bye-bye, Sulyok – the most forgettable president we’ve ever had.

I wasn’t expecting him to sign it himself. I was betting he’d simply let it take effect by doing nothing.
