There is the name “Lat Hans” (lazy Hans) on the picture. He is carrying a donkey so I assume this is some artistic interpretation of one of Aesops fables. That is a typical Norwegian art thing. High Culture combined or conflicted with rural, basic imagery.
Isn’t that from Feodor Rojankovskys illustrated fairy tale books? Mother Goose and the others?
