Isn’t the ideal leader one who doesn’t *desire* to be a leader?

“Hungary, an EU and NATO member state, remains deeply polarized between supporters of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s nationalist, socially conservative model and those demanding closer ties with the EU, stronger democratic safeguards and an end to corruption and state influence over the public media. “
Who the fuck is in Hungary supporting Russian kremlin orban? These fuckers are beer committing treason by doing that..

Sounds like a qualification to me. The leaders we need are those that really don’t want to do it.

That’s a shame, but huge respect for anyone who is offered a position of power and declines it because they think someone else would be better. From my extremely limited understanding she could have been a uniting figure for what apparently is mostly a ceremonial role, but it takes real integrity to say no to something like this.

We lost a good candidate but I totally understand her decision. Magyar screwed it up by promising a broad public discussion on who it should be and then immediately pushing Polgár.
He didn’t need to commit to that broad discussion, he could have just hand-picked her and most people would have been okay with her. Or he could have waited a few days until people make their voices heard. But telling people on Saturday that you are asking for their suggestions and then on Sunday already announcing who your pick is… and then ranting on Facebook about anyone who dares to criticize this process… People tend to react badly when you so obviously play fools with them.
