FWIW I’m not a huge fan of Ed as Foreign Secretary and there was probably a time where someone having been very publicly critical of a US president should maybe have been a consideration when deciding if they were a good fit. Those times are over.

Foreign secretary had Starmer’s name all over it surely? For all the hate he got (undeservedly IMHO) he pulled off some cracking deals with Europe, Japan, India, Switzerland and managed to keep Trump from going stupid with his tariffs which was impressive considering the big orange baby was throwing his dummy around.

    3. Immorals1 on

If trump doesn’t like something it’s a sign of a good decision imo 🤷

    4. britinnit on

The day we stop seeing that name in the news. Also he ruined a traditional term for passing wind.

    5. ApexAurajin on

Good, I’m glad something happened that makes him less happy.

    6. dewittless on

I mean it’s not *good* exactly, but I am glad that we have a foreign secretary who upsets Trump because they specifically call him out on all his bullshit.

    7. Dial-Appreciator on

Well for what it’s worth, everything they have said about Trump is correct. I can’t see that the USA are interested in being serious and fair anyway. Starmer always did his best to appease Trump and it works all the way up until you first say no, then he just throws his toys out the pram anyway. Our friends and allies are demonstrably in Europe, not America currently.

    8. Impossible-Bus1 on

Trump should focus on fixing that shit with Iran and then the mid terms he’s about to lose.

    9. Codydoc4 on

So? The world doesn’t revolve around the pedo-in-chief. He doesn’t get to insert himself into the decision making of another leaders cabinet choices.

    10. Artistic_Concern_33 on

I am curious how he answers these questions when inevitably the media will wait till damage can be maximized before they read all his statements to trump and ask him how he feels about the new foreign secretary because from what I can see I don’t think trump has engaged with him before

    11. I’d like to have seen him stay on as energy secretary personally,

      Guys smashed it

Best thing Burnham has done so far! We have all been waiting for that ‘love actually’ moment where someone tells the orange buffoon man baby clown to get stuffed and this is as close as we’re going to get.

I hope Ed tells him to man up and stop being such a crybaby and the country finally stops putting up with America’s shit.

Cabinet reshuffles always seem weird to me.

How can someome go from defence minister to chanceller. Seem completely and utterly different roles with little transferable knowledge.

    14. ghost-bagel on

If Trump’s pissed, Ed is probably a decent appointment.

This is my general barometer for things nowadays.

    15. ArmchairHedonist on

I’m going to Ed Miliband the shit out of a bacon sandwich tomorrow morning in celebration.

    16. ShowmasterQMTHH on

I must have missed the memo on having to get approval from Trump on who gets appointed to the government.

    17. Phil1889Blades on

Milliband wasn’t wrong about Trump so I see no issue.

    18. Usual-Journalist-246 on

The orange nonce gets angry at almost everything anyway. Not really news.

    19. SunComprehensive1688 on

I love it when Mango Mussolini gets a reality check that he can’t tell an independent nation what to do. 🙂

    20. gimmebanter on

Must be the right choice if it angers that absolute fruit

    21. Ok_Fig_5347 on

He can be angry as much as he likes. Trump is not our President and we don’t give a f**k what he thinks.

    22. leavemeinpieces on

      >New prime minister Andy Burnham has been cautioned that Mr Miliband has some “serious diplomatic repair to undertake” in the US, after his promotion to the role on Monday sparked anger from the Trump administration.

I love that they think like this, as if they haven’t destroyed the US on the world stage which will take decades to repair.

    23. not-ideal-but-true on

Who gives a shite what Trump thinks when it comes to UK politics and who holds high office. Look at some of the clowns he has as secretary’s of state.

    24. LeThomasBouric on

I’m looking forward to Trump dying, so that I can learn about news that isn’t about how he feels about things happening.

    25. Sad_Instruction1392 on

If Milliband just brings a cheap gold looking trophy over for Trump all will be forgiven/forgotten.

    26. Obeetwokenobee on

This is the UK, not America. Just ignore orangutan when it comes to domestic politics.

    27. Quirky_Shake2506 on

It’s none of trumps business at the end if the day ..the British government don’t pass comment on the absolute clowns trump appoints into positions they are incapable of doing

    28. fanglord on

Not a miliband fan, but Trump can jog on telling us who should be in what role in our cabinet.

    29. thebaker66 on

Good news. Maybe he’ll pop his clogs with all that anger

    30. ridley0001 on

Considering what his vice president said about him in the past, I think he’ll get over it.

    31. ash_ninetyone on

and since when should a foreign politician dictate what role we give our domestic ones?

    32. From the article:
On Mr Miliband’s past remarks, one ally close to the president told *The Independent*: “Trump doesn’t forget. He will not forget. Miliband has some serious diplomatic repair to undertake.”

Does England have a gold peace prize hanging around that Milliband could hand to trump? That kind of “diplomatic repair” is the way to trump’s heart.

    33. Tel_Janen on

Never forgive milliband when he played politics when sarin gas was used

    34. TheGardenBlinked on

Trump doesn’t know who he is. Trump doesn’t know where he is anymore

    35. Outside-Newt-897 on

Who the fuck cares what the hostile nation of the US thinks

The UK should ignore the US to the greatest extent possible

The UK should rebuild our ties with our actual allies in Europe
