The tone is a bit weird, this isn’t like the ESB crews rewiring half the country during a storm, it’s planned maintenance during a quiet period FFS.
Such a shame the movie title is already taken.
And what happens if it takes more than 27 hours
When they say “just” 27 hours, anybody who knows anything about this kinda stuff want to weigh in about how long it would normally take?
Can’t wait for the Mark Wahlberg straight to Netflix movie.
The Waterman.
How many households are actually affected by shutting it off for that long?
“Uisce Éireann does their job.”
I always find it amusing that they lean into their Gaeilge name now following their atrocious start to life as Irish Water.
Ohhhhh look at us. We are great…….
Knowing this country there’ll be no water for 2 weeks…..
Pour one out for the 300 workers, its a Bank Holiday weekend so its probably going to rain…..
Puff piece to try and divert from the awful job they are doing

*at a time when the utilities regulator had imposed a €31 million fine on Uisce Éireann for underperformance, the water company had paid out €18 million in bonuses to its own personnel.*
*Uisce Éireann achieved a 59 megalitres per day leakage reduction against the target set in the regulatory framework of 177.5 megalitres per day.*
Irish State agencies at their finest ….we managed to achieve 33% of our targets ……yay! well done us , crack out the bonuses
It’s maddening that they’re making a song and dance about doing this one in 27 hours while quietly sweeping the problems they’ve caused with slow works on [North City Arterial Main](https://www.water.ie/projects/local-projects/north-city-arterial-main-ncam) under the carpet.
That’s the one where they’ve had half the coast road to Howth closed for six months – when about half that time is project over run, and they’ve taken over a good quarter of the eastbound lane too. Completely screwed up traffic for months for anything east of the Malahide road.
Judging by it taking them two and a half months to lay pipe on my road, jackhammer going from 8am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, I’m going to guess they won’t be able to bang this out in under a week.
*… the works expected to prevent 1.5 million litres of water leaks daily.*
and I cannot use my hose pipe in the garden 🙄
UE are a shower of cunts. We have been on a boil water notice for nearly a year. No end in sight. No straight answers only that remedial works have been done. No answer what the works are.
TDs and Councilors getting the same bullshit responses that any member of the public gets.
They need to be disbanded but the same could be said for lots of other public services in this country.
Still to this day it blows my tiny mind that Uisce Eireann became a billions of euro entity overnight.
Yeah, we needed a consolidated Water company but the original premise for its creation was to formalise water charges.
Funny thing is, if they just used to money squandered in its creation to just fix the endlessly leaking water mains, resouviors would be emptying much slower meaning we could be hose piping our heads off today.
Love this country.
It’s be nice to live in a country with a decent to great public infrastructure…..
