FIFA is one of the most corrupt organisations in the world. Unfortunately, no one dares take any action against them.

Linked to the extended family of a certain orange nonce…

Serious question: What does it take to get rid of, or investigate a FIFA president? Because this whole FIFA peace prize nonsense is starting to make sense.

    3. MakePintsCheapAgain on

Good. I really hope UEFA decides to leave FIFA and do their own thing, the World Cup was an absolute farce from start to finish, and the future doesn’t sound too bright with the corrupt rigging involved to get it in Saudi in 2034.

A World Cup without European teams is crap, so I’d imagine the other continents would want to follow and be involved with whatever UEFA does.

    4. RespectTheBall on

Don’t be “deeply concerned”. Get together with all the other European associations and UEFA and tell them that if they go ahead with it no European teams will be competing. Well, maybe Russia. This needs to be killed off quickly in the same way that the European Super League was.

    5. crapusername47 on

At this juncture, I would strongly advocate for the FA and UEFA leaving FIFA.

They are not running our sport in its best interests, they are running it for the personal profit of individuals.

The continental associations can easily replace FIFA. The only things they’re really needed for is setting a common set of rules and running the men’s and women’s World Cups.

They don’t do anything to advance the sport at a grassroots level, promote women’s involvement in the game or ensure that the playing field is kept level at this point.

    6. FIFA seems to have lost objectivity of its existence – what will stop European countries to pull out and create a new body and set the demise of FIFA?

    7. F430Scuderia on

Then do something instead of being deeply concerned every time FIFA does something shit

    8. BenderRodriguez14 on

I honestly have a hard time feeling even a shred of sympathy for anyone besides the fans here.

FIFA should have been brought to heel and deeply purged after the Blatter debacle, but instead all the FAs and other bodies were more than happy to keep the corruption train going, and now they find themselves caught on the tracks and potentially it’s next victims.

    9. KungFuSpoon on

I look forward to hearing about nothing happening, nobody doing anything and the FIFA world cup continuing, business as usual, because nobody involved not the organisations or fans are willing to be inconvenienced or miss out.

    10. Rough-Army-6424 on

A law unto themselves. Only need to look at the relationship between Trump and Infantino to see the level of corruption they operate on.

    11. Front_Mention on

The idea is good that every country has an equal vote, but its made it too easy for successive fifa chairs to bribe small countries that need the money and dont care about football

    12. Time to start pulling out of association with FIFA then.

FIFA is an organisation which needs member FAs to survive, if we all leave then it dies.

    13. This may be a bit defeatist, but imo football is too far gone to realistically argue with FIFA about it. To say the world cup belongs to the fans and is not for sale, while those same fans club is owned by a Saudi conglomerate, plays at the “Corporation X” stadium and gets half their income from pushing gambling adverts to kids? Football was sold off years ago, the world cup is just the latest casualty.

    14. 6 out of 8 quarter finalist in the last World Cup were from Europe, FIFA are nothing without UEFA so if the English FA can come to an agreement with Spain, France, Germany etc they hold a pretty good leverage

    15. Unusual-Coat383 on

I’m honestly dumbfounded that we went from Sepp Blatter to someone 100x worse than him and all his cronies.

    16. DefinitelyNotBarney on

Yet the FA were happy to back Infantino for another term.

FIFA’s issues didn’t suddenly appear overnight. Corruption and poor governance have been discussed for years, yet only now, after the Trump/red card fiasco and mounting public backlash, does the FA seem prepared to take a stand. Where was this resolve years ago? They’re one of the most influential associations in world football, but they’ve spent far too long hiding behind everyone else instead of leading the charge for change.

    17. UEFA should suspend their participation until Infantino resigns.

    18. Start an FA home nations tournament. England, Wales Scotland, Ireland etc. A bit like the ‘Six Nations Rugby’

    19. kickyouinthebread on

Id genuinely be thrilled if this finally gets uefa to break away from FIFA. One of the worst most disgusting organisations in the world and not just counting sports.

Criminals, despots, murderers, who cares if you got bank.

    20. Sufficient_Spite2684 on

Hot take – UEFA should buy the available 20% of FIFA, and then use their extra weight in the organisation to bin off Infantino.

    21. BenathonWrigley on

If UEFA clubs just boycotted the World Cup it would make a difference, it would be shite without all the Euro teams.

    22. Professional-Test239 on

UEFA should just call their bluff. You can’t have a World Cup without UEFA teams.

Just threaten them with no UEFA presence in World Cup in 2030 and instead we have a Euro 2030. He’d soon back down. And if this scenario actually happened it would be sad but worth it to get rid of Infantino.

      Everything Trump touches dies.

    23. Any real talk of leaving FIFA and forming an alternative that isn’t so corrupt?

    24. Popular-Spinach-6700 on

UEFA and the European FAs could end FIFA tomorrow. Time to start actually using the massive leverage we have, there is no World Cup without the European teams

    25. buttflakes27 on

If they sell the rights to the World Cup, someone else should just have a separate “World Football Championship” where nations compete against each other in an eerily similar format.

    26. Releases_the_bees on

Call it. Cut ties and start something new. It’ll only get worse.

    27. Important_Ruin on

UEFA need to break away from FIFA and create their own governing body, take the money making European teams completely with them if FIFA go ahead with this.

UEFA isn’t perfect but FIFA is done, and we thought Blatter was corrupt, its now a whole new level.

    28. TopSpread9901 on

This organization should have been beheaded a long time ago

    29. Of course Jared kushner is in line to run the subsidiary, my god

    30. mercuchio23 on

Hydration breaks will become the norm. The trumps cant leave that advertising revenue off the table and infantino would sell his mum for 20p

    31. ruffianrevolution on

Fifa isn’t football. It’s just a private company that organises competitions. Far more people play footy on a sunday morning over the park with a hangover than at an elite level.

They can have their novelty leagues if they want. And there’s no reason someone else can’t start another company that is more football, rather than money oriented.

    32. DanBronze13 on

I grew up wishing desperately for Sepp Blatter to be removed and FIFA to be cleaned up. 30 yers later and I would take the old school corruption over Ifantinos brazen narcissistic corrupt pure greed every day of the week. Our Institutions have gotten more corrupt and the corporations and politicians that prop them up are so knee deep in their own greed none of them can be trusted with a tenner. I would support a european boycott of the World Cup if it came to that

    33. IIYogiII on

FIFA have probably seen how trump is getting away with this sort of stuff in the US and thinks it can get away with it too.

    34. Soft_Lunch_183 on

Europe need to tell him to piss off and everyone in uefa refuse to play the next world cup

    35. Horror-Protection225 on

Concerned but almost certainly not concerned enough to try and do anything about it…

    36. DaddysFriend on

FIFA will get to a point where it will fall from corruption but I don’t think it will happen anytime soon

    37. Worried_Let4942 on

But I thought every country was going to vote infantino back in?

    38. TechFoodAndFootball on

UEFA needs to be bold, but it won’t be. UEFA has plenty of it’s own issues preventing meaningful action. Just like FIFA they are guilty of the same shit when it comes to forcing out more games for more money at the expense of the Domestic game.
