      Tragic news. I remember seeing him in Doyles pub in 2009. Paul Brady also played that night. The place was rammed so not everyone could get inside. Glen came outside and played a few songs on the streets to those who couldn’t get inside. Very saddened to hear this news. RIP Glen.

      RIP I got to see him when he opened for Bob Dylan/Neil young in Kilkenny and he was fantastic

      Shocked to hear this. He was great friends with Mic Christopher whose 25th anniversary is this year. Some great videos of them busking and playing together on YouTube

      Can’t believe I’ll never hear him roaring Say It To Me Now from the stage again. He’ll be mourned by many.

      I met the man once.

      He was on O’Connell street late one night, guitar on his back, a bit steamed, explaining to a random group of Spanish students the significance of the GPO and the bullet holes in the building.

      I was walking by and he beckoned me over to help explain it. Was a surreal moment. But he was sound with the chats afterwards.

      Absolute shame he’s gone. Helicopters and Motorbikes lads, stay off ‘em. They’re just not worth it.

      First and probably only person from Ballymun to win an Oscar, as a local a ballymunner and fan this stings 😔

      I saw him years ago in the back of a pub in Dingle. I think it was the same night he played other voices. We couldnt get tickets to other voices but word went round that apparently he was gonna play a few songs afterwards in a pub. There was about twenty of us rammed in there. Can’t even remember what pub was! But a magical experience that I’ll always remember.

      My other memory of him is in Dublin. We were coming out of George’s Arcade , the cafe at the end was to our left. As we were coming out into the street glen was coming up to the window of the cafe and pulled up his shirt/jumper pretending to flash his friend who was sitting inside the window. He was laughing away to himself as he entered the cafe to meet his buddy.

      His version of the Rocky Road to Dublin. 👌 An absolute legend I’ve had the pleasure of meeting numerous times. A pure and genuine soul. So sad for his family.

      The Frames were integral to my CD collection during college, probably never had one out of the player for too long. The man had some voice on him, and the few times I saw them live, he never disappointed.

      I’d not listened to them in a while there until recently, and they’re still as powerful. Genuinely shocked to hear he has died, thoughts go out to his family and close ones. He will be missed.

      Sad to hear that. First knew him and Mic when they shared a flat on Harcourt St in 1989 and busked on Grafton St. Mic was a good mate, his passing was a shock.
      Last time I saw the Frames was in South Sea Port in NYC in 2004, bumped into Glen in Grogans a few months later but never since. RIP.

      I played in his amazing troupe of buskers in the late 80,s – we met on a bus from Lucan into town, I had my guitar and he invited me to join in and I became a regular, big hearted and generous – long mop of red curls, no beard back then, we met in London over the years and always so warm, just a joy – I’m so sad for his family and friends, his little boy

      Saw him and the Frames live many a time, always phenomenal live. The Set List recording in vicar street was a banger, and their music was a soundtrack to my twenties. Deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and I suppose selfishly that I won’t see get to see him perform again. The mark of his sheer talent that it has such an impact; may he rest in peace.
