The air force is doing an exercise today where they are using a stretch of the A1 motorway as an improvised airfield. This is the first time since 1991 that such an exercise takes place.

Years ago, when Switzerland first purchased the F/A-18, I was able to see the production/assembly at the airfield in Emmenbruecke. Very impressive, with literally hundreds of paper manuals to carefully document and check all production steps. More than likely all electronic today, but who knows.
