Great and candid interview. Highly recommended.
Very important that he mentioned the route from Central Asia to Mediterranean/Black Seas several times. He also indicated that the need for such a route is the perfect time to normalise relations. He really emphasized the potential role Armenia can play in the routes from Kazakhstan to Turkey or Georgia.
Good sign that he mentions that “New demands” to lose time should be stopped. Somewhat backing up the Armenian FM’s statement the other day responding to Aliyev himself, where he clearly said that the peace deal was close, these demands don’t concern you.
Unfortunately, It shows that Armenia more so had the political support to make that statement, than the political will to risk by doing that statement. O’Brien, here is clearly supporting Armenia in the peace process, and adding additional conditions on Azerbaijan to not “drag out the process or face the bell”.
