Ciao ragazzi belgi. [Couldn’t upload videos because this subreddit only allows pictures]

According to our media, these are Syrian Kurds. But Belgium is the most pro-Erdogan voting country in all of Europe, so you can imagine that the Turks are really triggered by anything Kurdish, especially a car celebrating with this flag in a Turkish neighbourhood.

There are several news articles. Let me share some from the Dutch-speaking state media. About the attacks on Kurds yesterday: [https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/03/24/oproer-in-heusden-zolder/](https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/03/24/oproer-in-heusden-zolder/)

About the Kurdish manifestation in Brussels today and the unrest: [https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/03/25/pro-koerdische-betoging-in-brussel/](https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/03/25/pro-koerdische-betoging-in-brussel/)

Article explaining more about the Turkish-Kurdish conflict and why it is sensitive here: [https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/03/25/koerden-turken-grijze-wolven-pkk-limburg-heusden-houthalen-helch/](https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2024/03/25/koerden-turken-grijze-wolven-pkk-limburg-heusden-houthalen-helch/)

If you want to know what our media write, I think throwing these articles into google translate is a good start. Of course many of the online commenters are in one of both camps or in a third ‘they all suck’ camp and so won’t fully explain the ‘Belgian perspective’. I think Most Belgians don’t really know the difference between Turks and Kurds very well, or about the history fo the PKK, or about the Turkish invasion into Syria, and are mostly sad to see foreign nationalistic problems play out on our soil.

We have videos of the Turkish rioting at a Kurdish house because they had a Kurdish flag. Nothing related to PKK.

Do the turkish even know the difference between PKK and Kurds?

Grey Wolves, a fascist turkish militia, is attacking Kurdish refugees celebrating Abdullah Öcalan, political prisoner in Turkey

There are plenty of footage showing multiple flags of both the PKK and its imprisoned leader, you can see for yourself on twitter and the like. When celebrating “nevruz” which is celebrated by turks, kurds, persians etc… alike there is absolutely no reason for them to convoy through a well known majority turkish region with terrorists flags and its leader. It’s as if they wanted a reaction. Not to say that the turks aren’t at fault too.

Whilst “most” turks are good at differentiating between pkk and kurds, you guys are not. Considering most (loud) kurds who are abroad are in fact pkk-supporters.

Turks see every Kurd as a terrorist, most of them don’t even recognize Kurdistan. Belgium is full of ‘grijze wolven’.

In some parts of Limburg (province in the east of Belgium), especially the towns that had coal mines, Turks are… let’s say “present”.

Turkish flags everywhere, hanging from windows, huge flags on walls, back window of the car, …

They are EXTREMELY proud of their homeland. So if some group antogonizes them and their ‘Turkishness’… Well… Stuff like this happens.

I fail to see why this should be an issue in Belgium. This is a ‘there’ problem. Flags from there, political issues from there, political prisoners (you mentioned Öcalan) from there, … why are both sides making an issue of that shit here? Jeez.

Dude, these are just local Belgian youngsters with to much testosterone…

Apparently some retard with Kurdish roots took out a PKK flag,

Just to provoke another group of retards, mostly Erdogan supporters

(Erdogan’s interests are anti _ Europe, so voting for him while you are living in Belgium with your whole family,
is just the definition of retarded)

Most of these kids are 2d or 3rd generation Belgians, and instead of being happy Belgians,

They act like they are still living somewhere in Turkey or Syria

    12. Significant_Room_412 on

But what I wonder, is why do they end up in the same village/ hood in this Eastern Belgian town?

We have so many immigrant communities, but apparently Syrian Kurds decided to massively settle down in a ( mostly) Turkish neighborhood…

I’d like for these people to take their feuds to their home country, and deal with it there.

Limburg Limburging nothing unusual here really except for the agression in some neighbourhoods being on the rise since a couple of months
