      Barbarians will do barbarian acts until they cannot do it no more. They believe this create fear, but what this really generates nowadays is unity among all the other civilized persons, regardless of nationality.

      Identify them, put them on the list of accused war criminals, and prosecute them. Sometimes they will be captured and try to change their identity, but many times that doesn’t work.

      I don’t know how personal and trade relations will happen after the war ends, after all this. There will definitely be a lot of people in Ukraine who will want to get back to business as usual (the kind motivated by money). But possibly more who wouldn’t want that. There will be a conflict between wanting to return to normality and having to live in knowledge that there will not be normality for a very long time, and that Ukraine will always have to live in a war-ready state.

      One issue is that I don’t see the russian society ever accepting blame / punishment – like Germans and Japanese did, which was a key reason we were able to deal with them and (under western control) shape them into allies. How can reconciliation happen in these conditions? It will always feel to Ukrainians like a submission, to extend a hand to people whose only regret is losing. (Also, I do realise that Japan is still viewed very badly by Asian countries it brutalised, and we didn’t have such horrible extensive history to deal with, with them. And Germany wasn’t ever as awful as it became under Hitler so there was less baggage).

      They’re trying to scare us in hopes to slow down mobilisation and hinder resistance. Dumb fucks don’t understand it does the exact opposite.
