The President of Ukraine signed [Law No. 9432](https://itd.rada.gov.ua/billInfo/Bills/Card/42201), which officially establishes English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine. 

The law establishes the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine, requires certain categories of positions to be proficient in English, and introduces changes in the areas of education, culture, transportation, and healthcare.

Who needs to speak English: 

* civil servants of categories A, B, C;
* heads of local state administrations
* officers, sergeants and non-commissioned officers serving under contract
* middle and senior police officers, chiefs in law enforcement agencies and civil protection services
* prosecutors
* employees of customs and tax authorities
* managers or members of supervisory boards of enterprises, 50% of which are owned by the state
* heads of higher education institutions
* heads of state research institutions
* the list in the field of education and science

**Education**
English will become compulsory in preschool education for older children and optional for younger ones.
English will remain compulsory in secondary and vocational education.

**Culture**
Information about concerts, performances, exhibitions, film festivals, literary readings, concerts, information in museums about exhibits and information in audio guides, tourist information will be duplicated in English.

**Transportation**
Announcements and notices will be duplicated in English in public transport, at airports, sea, river, railway and bus stations. 

**Healthcare**
For foreigners, there will be:
Provision of medical services, receiving calls, assistance in difficult situations.
