      It does not mean one day you will get a big one. It can mean you will get 10 small ones. No need to scare people for nothing. You can get a big one in 1000 years or maybe not even. The sun will die at some point as well no need to dwell on that

      Last “big” earthquake in cyprus was before i was even born.

      I think reality is the other way around though. It’s better to have many small ones because then the probability that all that energy is released in a large one decreases. I’m not an expert though.

      Probably that’s why Larnaca has already installed road signs with tsunami evacuation routes. It’s the first city in Europe or Mediterranean to be tsunami ready.

      Correction: When you live in a place with recurrent “small” eartquakes, you are **less likely*** to get a big one.

      Depends on the type of tectonic plate boundary. Small earthquakes are an indicator, specially in Japan because they have a convergent tectonic plate which cause volcanic activities as well.
