I completely agree with him, they shouldn’t be there at all. I’m surprised these “neutral” athletes haven’t been kicked out for doping, they always are.

Only positive: anyone paying attention, it is as if these athletes do not exist. I see gray indistinct figures, problems with television screen, etc.

At a certain level, they aren’t there. Is it optimum, or even just? No, but shunning should not be underestimated. Not everyone is an idiot, or a cynic, or a nihilist.

When Olga Kharlan refused to be chummy last year, but only offer a formal touch of her sword, that was shunning.

Shunning is subtle. But the IOC has no simple courage. *Leave the subtlety to the athletes, IOC. An institution’s job, is to be clear.*
