And virtually almost all of that money was spent inside the United States, paying industrial weapons makers to replace whatever weapon was sent to Ukraine.
Note, weapons are not eternal, at one point they need to be replaced by fresh weapons while the old get destroyed.
It should maybee also mention in the title how America also profits from it, not just by refreshing stock and renewal of equipment but also the increase in employment of Americans. So I think it’s very clickbate to have the tilte like that.
How America spent $100 billion to stick it to Russia is a better title.
Money well spent
Worth every penny and then some strategically, and that’s before the basic moral principle of the thing enters the equation.
As an American, I know that Ukraine needs to be defended. However much money is spent helping Ukraine defend itself, is not important. What is important, is that Ukraine wins.
A bargain at twice the price
They are in the process of spending 100b, so far they have spent not even 30b.

So the US spends about 5% of their military budget on the war in Ukraine.
And while it’s a strain right now it have also made Europe wake up and in 5-10 years time Europe will be able to take care of itself much more effectively just like the US wants. And Russia have lost pretty much their entire Soviet stockpile.
From a purely cynical point of view this war haven’t been that bad for the US.

That’s 100 billion loan. That’s no gift. And the US will take and privatise all worth while Ukrainian assets once this shit show is done. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Unfortunately morality, respecting sovereignty and the rule of law doesn’t pay the bills. Russia should be dismantled but remember America is not doing any favours.
Bullshit in the first 30 seconds: war in Afghanistan cost over $2 trillion or $300M PER DAY FOR 20 YEARS. This $100B is 1/20th of Afghanistan.
Burning up Russias imperialist capabilities and destroying the entire Soviet stockpile is certainly more geopolitical bang for buck than glazing over some rocky valleys in Central Asia.

How America spent 100 times less than the gulf wars and did way more to take a down one of top two Rival countries in the world, and solidify itself and NATO arms companies business opportunities to crush the number two weapon exporter in the world. Check and mate Russia all for he bargain price of revamping or own military stocks. The only problem is it just should be more and faster.
The United States spent about a trillion dollars (when adjusted for inflation) in the Vietnam War.
You can’t compare a war fighting insurgents hiding in caves with a full scale war with Russia.
Dollar per dollar this is probably one of the most cost effective wars the West has fought in the past 100 years.
Most of that $$$$ was actually from 1980s Cold War defense budgets, or the GWOT budgets for Afghanistan and Iraq.
The USA could, and should, send double that amount and it would still amount to a rounding error or like a percentage of a percentage. Honestly it’s the best money ever spent and most of the majority of it is simply reinvestment into the Defense Industrial Base.
I should hope after the election sometime in the New Year another supplemental is voted on to ensure continued and reliable resupply and replenishment.
