But (as an American I’ve looked everywhere and have yet to recieve a simple straight answer) why?
The west needs to realize containment equalize weakness and deal with Putin from a position of weakness is not only a dumb but also a very dangerous thing to do.
The west also needs to realize they CANNOT contain. Putin and only Putin decides if it ever escalates. The sooner the west get that into its mindset the better.
Oh wow, another great opportunity to deal a heavy blow to the enemy is gone thanks to the “great” allies.
