      These could be the kids from Moscow and St Petersburg, who were able to get duty in Kursk, and thereby avoid dealing with the situation in Ukraine. It is at least one theory.

      Russian law says that the normal conscription class – the one done twice a year and mostly teenagers – cannot serve outside Russia’s border. Putin caught a lot of flack about it when a bunch got killed inside Ukraine during the start of the war. It’s been known for awhile that the Russians have been using the conscripts for basic guard duty and logistics labor along the border. So these are likely barely trained kids doing their mandatory year of service. The fact that Ukraine has captured a bunch – and likely killed more than a few as well – could turn into a pretty big problem for Putin.

      This will not do. The Red Army will have to transfer troops from the Donbass. These conscripts mostly seems to surrender.

      This looks like Volkssturm pictures from 1945 when allied forces entered Berlin. Literal children that have no idea how the world works are given a gun and told to shoot at the other green colored people. This is such a disgrace for a country that brought up Dostojewski, Tschaikowsky and Rachmaninov.

      Well…is this the beginning of the end of the war? Seems like it to me.

      Ukrainian victory seems to be highly increasing in probability now. When Ukraine wins, that will set a domino effect across the world, and bring about the rapid end of authoritarian regimes.

      These look like muscovite Russians so they were probably on a cushy assignment unlike the asian looking Russians dying on the front lines. No actual military experience so ready to give up at a drop of a hat.

      Theres nothing noble in fighting for a country which doesn’t give a Shit about you, your Family, or Basic human rights. I only Hope these boys learn a valuable lesson and see this as a second chance. I am just grateful Ukraine treats them not the same way Russia treats Ukranians.

      I’m just trying to imagine what Russians feel when they see stories like this. I’m trying to think of a comparison. Being in the US, if a foreign military seized control of parts of the country and our military was surrendering without a fight, my morale would be 0. It’s probably a clusterfck in Russia right now.

      My guess is these are all soft and connected soldiers who through connections were given no combat assignments. The “great unwashed” Russian conscripts are all assigned to meat wave duty in ukraine

      Ukraine is rescuing russians from being killed because of putin’s (spit) insane war. This was not on my bingo card. Brilliant strategy. Capture them before they’re trained, armed or deployed so you don’t have to kill them. Trade them for Ukrainians and maybe find a few that want to fight the orcs that conscripted them.
