I am absolutely sick and tired of this Jekyll and Hyde bullshit from Germany right now.
There is not cut.
There are already finances planned for the coming years.
For this year, because of tight budget, it’s currently unlikely that additional support will get handed to Ukraine.
7 Billion are planned for 2024. Not all of it was used and not all the orders like artillery ammunition are finished.
It’s like the 60 billion of the US. They agreed on that amount and bit by bit support gets send eating up the 60 billion slowly. If now an official would say no additional support for ukraine in 2024 it would mean no additional money for ukraine on top of the 60 billion which doesn’t mean at all that the planned packages get canceled.
It should be added, that the EU is skimming dividends of russian capital investments and sending these to Ukraine.
That takes off pressure of EU politicians when their citizens complain of domestic problems and critizising pointing to the billions given to Ukraine.
Therefore this weakens russian attempts to weaken western democracies and/or the support of far-right/-left movements.
Lots of russian bots and trolls are trying to amplify the “support cut” message. Fuck russia.
