Remember that India only cares about India, so don’t trust Modi too much.
That said, I personally think Modi is simply unaware of the complete picture of what is happening in Ukraine, and is using this meeting to form his own opinion. I semi-doubt he’d flip from subtle Russian support to full Ukrainian commitment though, unless the price was right.

Lots of angry comments hereand I totally understand it. But here geopolitical and economics reasons must be considered. Putler is selling its oil at a deep discount to the point that does not make any profit out of it and India is taking advantage of this situation.
Because he’s a puppet looking to get as much as he can before he’s run out of the country in a staged coup taking millions of foreign aid dollars with him and getting amnesty and protection in another country. Hey! Modi, Dictator much!
India is actually beneficial for Ukraine, as everything they buy from Russia is payed in rupees, that the russians cannot use to buy anything, except in india. And india basically only has rice, that they rationed the sales last year.
They’re basically buying things for nothing now, and russia keeps selling because they’re trying hard not to lose that useless pathway.
Putin is using Modi like his little lap dog in Belarus to deliver a message.
20 bucks tells me we’ll get a statement from Ukraine later saying that modi was asking Zelenskyy to help end the war soon by accepting a peace deal. 🤣
Pootin is desperate for negotiations, really desperate. Pootin uses his puppets to beg as he does not want to stoop so low just yet, he will, but it is not going to happen until Ukraine has started taking back some land in the east of Ukraine, which looks like is going to start happening very soon..
