Wow more than i Expected but damn that does look like some good fruit.
Those prumes are like twice the size as i find them here and those tomatoes so red.

I wonder why did they place that sample hole in the watermelone at the spot where it tastes the worst.

Man these images give me instant nostalgia. I used to go to Romania every summer as a kid.

I don’t know if this post was meant to be good or bad. Either way, I wish I could buy that much food with €18.16!…

Guessing about $40 in the US

The irony here is that most of rural Romania grows these products in their gardens/fields but city people arrived to pay these prices for probably more processed fruits and vegetables.

Even in Kosovo 20 Euro is not that much money

I paid $20 for two large heirloom tomatoes yesterday at a farmers market in the U.S.

Brilliant. Plus points for no plastic packaging. Local markets are the way to shop.

Honestly in the Netherlands almost 20 for this would be expensive. It’d be around 14 in the grocery store and 10 at a market.
Even so I can’t compare the quality of Dutch agricultural products vs Romanian because I’ve never tasted the latter.

To be fair, I’d bet most of this is imported from other countries. Imported fruits and vegetables are always going to be relatively expensive.

living in RO btw and i dont find this to be a bargain. for real now, its 2 carrots, 9 potatoes, etc. in most shops, u’d get that 1kg of potatoes for around 1euro (i’d say less), the carrots+onion+garlic+cucumbers is also around 1-1.5 euros, the parsley can go up to 1-1.2 euros, the eggs are liek 3+ euros (bio i guess), plums are less than 2 euros. that makes the tomatoes (which are crazy expensive this year btw) + peppers + watermellons + homemade stuff around 10 euros.. dunno, imo its not smth i’d be willing to pay i guess … but the big tomato looks havenly tbh :))

Im Romanian. I doubt this. The bottle and jar look like something you could buy in a farmer’s market.

Fantastic looking produce but I’d have expected Romania to be cheaper than that. We have poor quality veg and fruit in our supermarkets after Brexit.

Huh, when I was in Romania last year I felt most foods cost about as much as in Germany. Wages are considerably lower though.
